Come see Toy Story 5 presented with stunning 4K laser projection on the big screen in L3!

Despite rumours that Toy Story 5 would be another Disney sequel cash-grab, the movie actually defied expectations and even managed to make me cry. We follow Bonnie, who has grown up since the 4th film and is now surrounded by technology. She feels isolated after attending a sleepover where she is bullied by so-called ‘friends’ for still owning a toy: our favourite cowgirl, Jessie. After shenanigans occur, we find ourselves following Jessie as she attempts to find her way back to Bonnie while Jessie also figures out where she fits in a world that seems to have outgrown her. The movie uses a bit of nostalgia and well-developed characters to tell a story about belonging, girlhood and coming of age, without forcing a straightforward anti-technology message down the audience’s throat. The Buzz Lightyears side plot is also a good piece of comic relief. [Emily Allen]
