Expanding on the beloved children’s novel of the same name, Wes Anderson delivers a whimsical existential drama about Mr. Fox dealing with the weight of aging, being a father, a husband and, at his core, being a wild animal as he returns to a life of stealing from farmers, who seek revenge against him and his family after discovering his plans. Wes Anderson’s first stop motion animation film wonderfully grounds the tale of a mid-life crisis and searching for identity in his quirky child-like aesthetic, crafting wonderful moments where dramatic existential monologues are juxtaposed against waterfalls in a sewer and warm orange skies.
