Gliding

Gliding Sports Club

We are a student run club who fly gliders – aeroplanes without an engine!

Gliding is an exciting and adrenaline filled sport. Being launched into the sky at speeds above 70 mph and staying aloft solely on air currents can be exciting and challenging, but nevertheless rewarding. On a good summer's day you can be up for hours and maybe fly all the way to the Lake District and back - if you’re confident you won’t get lost!

As a member of Warwick University Gliding Club you will progress through the nationally recognised training route on your way to becoming a qualified glider pilot, with training delivered by highly experienced and often very enthusiastic instructors who are registered with the British Gliding Association. Instruction is given free of charge, the only thing you need to pay for is time in the glider, which we try to keep at friendly student rates. The club organises trips most weekends as well as trips to various competitions throughout the year to test your new skills. Trips are only confirmed a couple of days inadvance due to the weather.

Still unsure? – We give every member a free flight so you can see if gliding is for you, I doubt you will leave it at just the one though …

If you have any questions please get in touch.
