Greece was the birthplace of Western Culture. Modern democracies, the judicial system, legal equality, systematic thought and sciences, literary forms and art all owe a debt to ancient times. The beauty of the country cannot be described in words. Every single place has its own beauty and history.
Cyprus, is an island of legends that basks year-round in the light of the warm Mediterranean sun. People are mesmerised when faced with such beauty. Aphrodite made her home on Cyprus, and travellers throughout antiquity came here just to pay her tribute.
A rich and varied schedule of festivals and other events makes these nations unique in the Mediterranean. Cypriot and Greek hospitality is legendary. More than just a friendly smile and a "Yia sou"(Hello), Cypriots and Greeks have a warm and loving nature that really impresses everyone.
Warwick Cypriot and Hellenic Society is one of the biggest cultural societies of the University of Warwick.
What we aim to do is to entertain, help, advise our members and give them a taste of life in Cyprus and Greece. Whether you are a Cypriot, Greek or not you will find it easy to make friends. There is a feeling of belonging and openness among members; something you will pick up on straight away. This year we are planning several trips, Greek nights and parties including Mediterranean Parties, bar crawl and live acoustic night!
We are open to your suggestions and recommendations so why not get involved in the society?
We aim to make this year exciting and fun for everyone!
