Welcome to the University of Warwick Shotokan Karate Club

WHAT?

Karate is a form of self defence, literally meaning "empty hand" which symbolizes that its practitioners (Karateka) are unarmed but will use hands and feet for blocking and striking. Our sessions cover a whole range of Kihon (basics), Kumite (sparring), Kata (technical form) and self-defence. This martial art is especially for you if you wish to build on your mental and physical fitness, and increase your self confidence and awareness.

WHEN + WHERE?

There are three training sessions per week and one grading per term where the members are examined on a series of kicks, punches and blocks of varying levels of difficulty and when successful are awarded new belts. Our training times are:

Monday: 20:00-21.30 Studio

Tuesday: 20.00-21.30 Functional Training Studio

Thursday: 20.30-22.00 Studio
