The University of Warwick Golf Club offers fantastic golfing opportunities for golfers of all levels, as well as some of the best social events on campus!
WELCOME TO OUR CLUB:
The University of Warwick Golf Club is a diverse, growing society with over 50 members at present. The club is sub-divided by members of our Social Golf programme and the BUCS Squad. Social Golf looks to cater for students of all abilities, and the BUCS Squad holds 20 members whom make up a 1st and 2nd team.
Success has come in abundance over the past several seasons. Following the club’s double promotion in 2015/16 in which both teams were unbeaten in the league all season, the golf team won the university’s 2016 Cecil Angel Award; presented to the best performing sports team of the year. Throughout their campaigns, each team overcame exceptionally tough competition from the likes of Birmingham and Loughborough – universities renowned for their sporting excellence. Furthermore, Tom (a previous club president) finished T14th in the Boyd Quaich Memorial Tournament – one of the world’s most prestigious student golf tournaments. After a year settling into the league, the first team won the Midlands 1A in the 2017/18 season, narrowly missing out on promotion.
The dual setup of our society allows us to strike a balance between encouraging participation while also providing means for our elite performers to relish in competition. Club integration is also very important to us and thus we hold weekly socials for all our members, club meals and off campus events which are often arranged with other sports clubs from the university.
BUCS SQUAD 2018/19:
If you would like to play golf competitively in 2018/19, we welcome you to trial out for the squad. Trials will be held in the first week of term. The squad play and practice at Coventry Golf Club which boasts fantastic facilities. The squad will be limited to 20 players, and as an indication of the standard, the current squad's handicaps range from 1 to 9. The First and Second teams will compete in approximately 12-15 matches each over the year (held on Wednesdays), and the squad practises twice per week. Those who successfully make it through trials will be invited to join the squad and take up full membership at Coventry. For more information on trials, BUCS matches and membership at Coventry please feel free to contact us with any questions on Facebook or by email.
For the more casual golfers who wish to have fun continuing their golf during the next year at Warwick, we are offering Social Golf membership at Coventry Golf Club. The club is ideally placed at approximately 10 minutes from campus, and offers a true test of golf whilst also facilitating for those with limited golfing experience. The Social Golf membership is a great way of meeting others of a similar standard and allows students to book from four tee times each week from October to June.
