We are a society at the University of Warwick and our aim is to support our members in creating games. Each year we introduce many new members to the exciting and creative world of game development. Some just come along to learn a specific skill, others have game ideas and some want to seek a career in the industry. Check our contact page to find more ways to talk to us!
We meet every Thursday at 6pm
To see which room we're in, check the calendar on the news page.
Our weekly meetings are followed by a relaxed social. Anyone is welcome to join us for lively discussion about video games (among other things).
Want to make games?
Over the year we encourage members to form teams and create games. Some games are society projects, which typically last between a term and the whole year. Others are developed over a weekend, during one of our 48-hour game making competitions. Games can be found on our website.
This year we are going to focus on smaller groups and small games so you can learn the most in the shortest amount of time and make lots of games during the year.
You don't have to be able to write code...
Art, 2D and 3D design, sound and music, game and level design, story-writing, programming, project leadership, these are among the many skills that go into making a game. If you'd like to learn about any of them, have a look around this site or come to one of our many meetings and ask.
Have a look at the news page to see what else is going on! After Thursday meetings we socialise in a pub (usually Varsity) to discuss games and socialise.
We have connections with several local game developers who give talks, demonstrations and career advice to our members. Many of our past members are now industry veterans or small indie game developers.
You can see some of our past talks on the website talks page.
Joining the society will automatically create an account on the website within the hour and subscribe you to our mailing list.
Alternatively, you can join the mailing list via the News section with or without a manually created account.
