Welcome to Warwick University Folk Society!

Probably the most addictive, active and friendly society

on (and off!) campus…

Warwick University Folk Society (Formerly Warwick University Ceilidh Society) was formed in 2001, and won Best New Society Award for 2001-2002. An eclectic group, we aim to cater from beginners to enthusiasts, with involvement in both the music and dance aspects of the Folk scene.

We hope to give you all the fun of your usual nights out, but something different from the usual trek to the pub, the union or a student nightclub. Our nights out usually involve perhaps a little more dancing than usual and best of all, live music and friendly people!

We are energetic (for the most part!), addictive and above all probably the most friendly society on campus, so if you fancy a good time why not come along and have a go

You can:

- Join our band and play for our Ceilidhs,

- Join in with songs and tunes in the fabulously revamped Dirty Duck,

  • - Learn to Rapper Dance with lethal-looking two-handed bits of sprung steel,
  • - Take monthly minibus trips to the Peeping Tom Ceilidhs in Coventry, or the monthly Alcester Contras (in Alcester)
  • - dance or play at our own Ceilidhs, mostly in Cryfield Sports Pavilion, twice every term.
  • - Attend the student run IVFDF Festival in the spring term,
  • - And meet up with various members, past and present at various festivals around the calendar.
