A big thank you for joining our society and for those who have invited their friends to join! We would like to tell you a little about the society and all the exciting things that the society will be involved with!
We are a group that not only caters for Atheists, Secularists and Humanists, but for anyone who has a keen interest in the topics associated with each label. Whether you are keen on religion, scepticism, ethics, free-speech, or secularism (and indeed science and philosophy) - we can provide a very exciting and very rewarding environment for you. WASH is unique as a society in the sense that it encourages critical thinking, the sharing of ideas, discussions and debates - and all in a very warm, convivial environment built on respect.
We've had some hugely successful events over the years, and it has been a real pleasure getting to know all those who were involved with the society. We had some incredibly rewarding guest-speaker events from such esteemed figures as Professor AC Grayling, Maryam Namazie and activist Peter Tatchell, as well as having had charity events, debates, socials, discussions and video screenings. Keep an eye our our facebook group and our facebook page for all social and event information. If you join the group then you'll get invites to the events when each is planned (in theory)
Speaking of our facebook group and our facebook page, please do join us. Not only will you be able to hear about socials and events through it but we also hope for it to become a hive of discussion, deliberation and debate (covering a variety of topics).
Some of you will hopefully be very keen to get involved with every aspect of the society. Please do! Watch out for information on aforementioned links about scheduled meetings (we have one per week) and just come along - they really are for everyone. If you have a great idea for an event, want to help out or just want to know what's on the books for later in the term the meetings may well be interesting for you!
Looking forward to meeting all new members!
The WASH exec
