Do you prioritise the here-and-now over the hereafter? Are you open-minded and sceptical?

Warwick Atheists, Secularists and Humanists is a thriving society created to cater for faithless students at Warwick. Whilst the society's stance is that of atheism and secular humanism, we encourage students from across the entire spectrum of worldviews to join.

We feel a sense of community amongst students who do not believe in supernatural Gods is important and we hold socials and other fun events to bring those who share our mindset together. We also hope to be running a variety of events to promote understanding and discussion regarding atheism, secularism and humanism.
Whether you consider yourself to be an atheist, secularist or humanist, watch out for our events throughout the year and join up to show your support and get involved.

“Being a Humanist means trying to behave decently without expectation of rewards or punishment after you are dead.”
-Kurt Vonnegut

“Play hard, work hard, love hard. . . .The bottom line for me is to live life to the fullest in the here-and-now instead of a hoped-for hereafter, and make every day count in some meaningful way and do something—no matter how small it is—to make the world a better place.”
– Michael Shermer, founder and publisher, Skeptic Magazine

A big thank you for joining our society and for those who have invited their friends to join! We would like to tell you a little about the society and all the exciting things that the society will be involved with!

We are a group that not only caters for Atheists, Secularists and Humanists, but for anyone who has a keen interest in the topics associated with each label. Whether you are keen on religion, scepticism, ethics, free-speech, or secularism (and indeed science and philosophy) - we can provide a very exciting and very rewarding environment for you. WASH is unique as a society in the sense that it encourages critical thinking, the sharing of ideas, discussions and debates - and all in a very warm, convivial environment built on respect.

We've had some hugely successful events over the years, and it has been a real pleasure getting to know all those who were involved with the society. We had some incredibly rewarding guest-speaker events from such esteemed figures as Professor AC Grayling, Maryam Namazie and activist Peter Tatchell, as well as having had charity events, debates, socials, discussions and video screenings. Keep an eye our our facebook group and our facebook page for all social and event information. If you join the group then you'll get invites to the events when each is planned (in theory)

Speaking of our facebook group and our facebook page, please do join us. Not only will you be able to hear about socials and events through it but we also hope for it to become a hive of discussion, deliberation and debate (covering a variety of topics).

Some of you will hopefully be very keen to get involved with every aspect of the society. Please do! Watch out for information on aforementioned links about scheduled meetings (we have one per week) and just come along - they really are for everyone. If you have a great idea for an event, want to help out or just want to know what's on the books for later in the term the meetings may well be interesting for you!

Looking forward to meeting all new members!

The WASH exec
