CAREERS EVENTS            CIRCLING + POP!            REVISION SESSIONS            SPRING BALL

SocSoc Highlights:

Freshers Reps:  At the beginning of the year we look for a handful of Freshers who are willing to represent 1st Years in SocSoc.  You'll get your very own hoodie, as well as be involved in helping the Exec plan and execute events, be instrumental in publicising events to your fellow Freshers, and get an inside look into how SocSoc operates.  When February comes around you'll have the chance to run for one of our positions and keep the SocSoc flame alive!

Christmas Meal:  This is an annual tradition that takes place at the end of Term 1.  Whip out those Xmas jumpers, wrap yourself in tinsel and join us in Leamington for a delicious meal!  For those who don't celebrate Christmas: that's cool! Come join us anyway for an end of term celebration involving eating, drinking, and spending time with your SocSoc pals. Keep an eye out on our social media for further details nearer the time!

Spring Ball:  For the past two years we have partnered with Warwick Politics Society (2016 - 17) and Warwick Philosophy Society (2018) to bring you our Spring Ball. This is sure to be the highlight of your academic year; it's a chance to dress in your finest apparel and celebrate in style with the rest of SocSoc. This is one event you do not want to miss! Details regarding the event usually come at the end of Term 1/beginning of Term 2, so keep your eyes peeled!

2018/19 Exec

President: Mark Reed

Degree: LAW AND SOCIOLOGY (3rd Year)

Hey guys, my name's Mark and I'm your President for this academic year. It's my goal to make sure that SocSoc provide you with enjoyable socials, helpful revision sessions, and most of all a chilled and tight-knit community for you guys to be a part of. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. See you soon!

Vice President/Treasurer: Akvile Krišciunaite

Hi everyone, I'm Akvile and I'm the Vice President/Treasurer for the upcoming year. I help represent the Society along with the President, as well as keep the Society's finances in check. SocSoc is a great thing to be a part of in your first year. It's a good way of integrating into the uni community and helps you get to know like-minded people. Don't be afraid to approach myself or the rest of the Exec for advice on your course, answers to questions regarding accommodation/nightlife or maybe even just a general chat.

Secretary: James Whitfield

Degree: SOCIOLOGY (2nd Year)

Hello, my name's James and I'm this year's SocSoc Secretary. It's my job to ensure that there's a good level of communication between the Exec members, as well as between the Exec and you guys. I do this by organising Exec meetings, taking and formatting the minutes, as well as getting the weekly email out to members of SocSoc so people know what we're up to. If you're interested in experiencing Exec meetings, make sure you sign up to be a Freshers Rep.

Publicity Officer: Majidha Jaman

Degree: SOCIOLOGY (3rd Year)

Hi, my name's Majidha and I'm the Publicity Officer for SocSoc this year. I'm in charge of ensuring that the Facebook and Instagram pages are up to date with the latest info, in addition to creating the Facebook events so you guys know what stuff there is for you to get involved in. Make sure you like SocSoc's Facebook and follow our Instagram so that you don't miss out on anything!

Academic & Welfare Officer: Aggie Barker

Degree: SOCIOLOGY (3rd Year)

Hiya guys, I'm Aggie and I'm your Academic Officer for 2018/19. It's my job to provide you with engaging academic events that are sure to get you thinking, as well as provide you with academic support in the form of revision sessions when exam season starts creeping up on us. I also manage the Mentoring Programme that all you Freshers will be a part of, so if you have any questions regarding that or if you just wanna talk don't be afraid to say hi.

Social Secretary: Vaishali Purohit

Degree: SOCIOLOGY (2nd Year)

Hey, I'm Vaishali and it's my job to provide you with the more social-oriented events throughout the academic year. I'm in charge of socials such as bowling, the Circle + POP! events that happen twice a term, as well as a variety of other events that are sure to interest you. We make sure to have both drinking and sober socials, so there's something for everyone. Keep an eye out on the Society's Facebook page to make sure you don't miss out!

Charity & Fundraising Officer: Jessie Spreadborough

Degree: SOCIOLOGY (3rd Year)

Hello guys, my name's Jessie and I'm looking forward to working with all of you so that we can help support a great cause! If you want to get involved, SocSoc hold a charity voting poll during Term 1, which allows you guys to determine which charity SocSoc will help support throughout the academic year. Make sure you attend the various charity events that SocSoc will host, ranging from bake sales to group outings, which we're certain you'll enjoy.

2018/19 Charity: The RSPCA Coventry, Nuneaton and district branch
