WARWICK GERMAN SOCIETY
Hallo Leute und willkommen!
We may be listed as an academic society, and although we are here to help support your German language skills and learning about German culture, we are also here to give you an escape from your studies. GSOC welcomes everyone, from those who study the language, to anyone vaguely interested in German culture; we have lots of members doing different combinations with their German studies in addition to people not studying Deutsch at all, but who know of our reputation of hosting fantastisch socials, and a number of erasmus students.
German society is proud to be the largest language society on campus, and we strive to provide our members with amazing socials and entertaining educational events too. We regularly organise nights out to Leamington and Coventry, house parties and, of course, POP! circling. We also host fun and relaxed events for those who wish to practise their German skills, such as Stammtisch evenings in the Dirty Duck and quiz nights, which are suitable for both beginners- and advanced level German speakers. We also run both a football and netball team, which play weekly and provide another great way to socialise!
The highlight of the GSOC calendar is our annual tour! This year we are travelling to Berlin during term 2 reading week, which is guaranteed to be filled with laughs and jäger aplenty. We are currently in the process of organising this year’s trip, and welcome any suggestions of activities that our members would like to do. We really cannot recommend this tour enough to freshers; not only is it a great opportunity to visit our beloved Deutschland, but it’s also the best way to gain a great group of friends. More information on tour will be given out later in term 1!
Being a member of German Society means being a part of a welcoming, friendly and fun-loving society. We can’t wait to welcome both new and returning members to GSOC, and to help them make this year great fun! Please visit our facebook page ‘Warwick German Society 2017/18’ to see our exciting plans for this term!
