Six years ago, a group of Warwick students made the vision of an Emerging Markets Forum a reality with the inaugural event in 2011. After this became a sell-out success, the society has gone from strength to strength, captivating students and professionals alike by encouraging discourse on the changing global landscape.
What is an Emerging Market?
An emerging market is broadly defined as a country with low to middle per capita income, which is experiencing rapid economic growth and becoming more deeply integrated into the world economy. Notable examples include India, Nigeria and Mexico – places where many of us at Warwick will eventually end up living and working!
Upcoming Events (2016/17)
This year, for the first time ever, our flagship event will be in collaboration with the Warwick Africa Summit, which is taking place on 4-5th February 2017.
We will also be holding a number of smaller events throughout terms 1 and 2, including CV workshops, networking sessions, lively panel debates and a highly-regarded series of talks from external speakers.
Speaker Series – Term 1
Ashish Patel, Head of The Abraaj Group for Sub-Saharan Africa
Felipe Hernández, Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge
Glenn Tjon, Regional Partner at KPMG Advisory in Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic
Our focus is on all aspects of emerging countries, from politics to law and social entrepreneurship. Since these international issues affect each and every one of us, we welcome students of all backgrounds to join our society!
