WHO ARE WE?

We are Warwick Marrow - A student run branch of Anthony Nolan. Marrow exists in over 40 universities and we sign people up to the bone marrow register.

People with leukaemia, and other blood cancers, sometimes need a bone marrow or stem cell transplant to survive. Only 1/3 of people can find a match in their family - the rest need an unrelated donor. However there are millions of different tissue types, and so it can very hard to find a match. Without a donation of healthy stem cells, the patient will die.

By getting more people on the register, we increase chances of finding a match for someone.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We run clinics throughout the year, at halls of residences and on campus, signing people up to the bone marrow register.

We also do lots of fundraising too, as it costs £100 to put one person on the register, so we raise as much as we can to fund this.

We also try to raise general awareness of bone marrow and stem cell donation, and stop any myths about it (It's NOT painful!)

Finally, as all good socieites do, we like to have amazing socials, to reward ourselves for all the hard work we do.
