Warwick University Sub-Aqua Club (WUSAC)
WUSAC (Warwick University Sub-Aqua Club) features SCUBA Diving and Underwater Hockey rolled up into one fun and friendly club. Here's some more information about diving, underwater hockey, and our club's social side!
WUSAC is a SCUBA Diving Club with a difference: not only are we a University Club, but we are also a Branch of the British Sub Aqua Club.
For more information about our club, please see our main website - wusac.co.uk
What do we do?
Our main aim is getting more people into the water. We are passionate about diving, and want to share it. We run internationally recognised qualifications, with costs that won't eat into your student loan. We have all of our own dive kit, so here really is the easiest you can get involved!
Want to learn to dive?
We run try dives at the beginning of each academic year (weeks 1 and 2, term 1). Please see us at sports fair or email us for more information. If you enjoy the try dive, you can sign up for our ocean diver course. Please see our main website for more information!
Then come diving with us! We do a lot of UK sea diving, but warm-water trips run every year too. We also do more advanced BSAC training such as Sports Diver and Dive Leader for people who already have diving qualifications, with opportunities to also instruct with us!
Looking for something new?
Underwater Hockey (also known as "octopush" or simply "push") is a fun and challenging sport that is played on the bottom of a pool, with players wearing mask, fins, and snorkels and holding their breath. Don't get intimidated though, because almost everyone is a beginner when they start with WUSAC, and our GB level captain will help teach you all the basics and get you comfortable, as well as experienced players at sessions who are can help you out.
When can I play?
Every Tuesday (6.15-8pm), Thursday (9-10 pm) and Sunday (6-8 pm) we have our club sessions for underwater hockey. Come and try it out at our taster sessions at the beginning of terms 1 and 2. Even after taster sessions are done, anyone can come try out the sport at our Rock Up and Play session at 5-6 on Sunday every week during term time - which is free for all students and staff! We have all the equipment you'll need to get started, just meet us poolside in your swimwear!
We also have an active social side of the club! After all push or diving trainings, we go have "Wusnacks" to get some food together and hang out outside of the pool for a while. Along with this, our 2 social secs have planned a fun and welcoming social calendar involving club meals, Pop!, bowling and more! In addition to this, we are looking forward to trying to include more charity events to give back to the wider community.
