Jitsu is a practical and effective form of self-defence, which improves confidence, balance and co-ordination, as well as being great fun! You will learn to defend yourself from a wide range of attacks, including punches, kicks, strangles, grabs and weapons, using throws; joint locks and strikes. You don't have to be fit or strong to start, these naturally improve with training. Training is fun and friendly and no previous experience is expected. We are a sociable club and spend a lot of our time in the pub after training as well as organising nights out and national competitions and events. If you want a feel for the club click here for our gallery.
We can now confirm our training slots for term 1 of 2020 - these are subject to any changes made by the government in order to keep everyone safe and well.
*MONDAYS* - ONLINE Session, 6.30-7.30pm. This will focus on technical skills and can be attended individually. Some sessions may have a pair work focus in the future, within government guidelines (i.e. household pairs or bubble pairs only - no cross training).
*THURSDAYS* - FACE TO FACE, SOCIALLY DISTANCED Session, 8-10pm. Session limit of 15 people, to be delivered in the Combat Room in the Warwick Sports and Wellness Hub. The focus will be HIIT and individual training with no pair work. This is in line with current government and University guidelines. Due to the number limit, this will work on a rota system (TBC). The session will be live streamed for those members who would like to attend virtually. We have allocated COVID officers within the Exec who will ensure that guidelines are followed (track and trace, QR codes, cleaning of equipment, etc).
If you are interested in joining us, we are open to new members! Please do drop us a line with any of your questions - we will also be running socials and have a group chat to keep up to date with any changes.
