The University of Warwick Golf Club is a diverse, growing society open to anyone interested in playing golf at University. The club is sub-divided by members of our Social Golf programme and the BUCS Squad. Social Golf looks to cater for students who enjoy a casual round of golf, whereas the BUCS Squad has 20 members, split into a 1st and 2nd team, who play competitive matches in the Midlands 1A (1st Division) .
Success has come in abundance over the past several seasons, most recently being crowned Midlands 2A champions 2022/2023. Equally, 2021/2022 saw fantastic results, becoming Midlands 1A unbeaten Champions, only narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier league. The club also finished in the quarter-finals for the national trophy. These results led the golf team to win the University's 2021/2022 Cecil Angel Award; presented to the best-performing sports team of the year. Throughout their campaigns, each team overcame exceptionally tough competition from the likes of Birmingham and Loughborough – universities renowned for their sporting excellence. With the 2s success in 2022/23, both teams will be competing in the same league (Midlands 1A) for the 2023/24 season, a very exciting prospect.
The dual setup of our society allows us to strike a balance between encouraging participation while also providing means for our elite performers to relish in competition. Club integration is also very important to us; thus, we hold weekly socials for all our members, club meals and off-campus events which are often arranged with other sports clubs from the University.
