Welcome to the Comedy Society 🥳🥳🥳 In this society, we do all things comedy: we watch specials and sketches (analyse a little, giggle a little), we write, perform and direct comedy. I’m talking sketch, stand-up and satire magazines!
There is no pressure to perform, all of our sessions are welcoming and laid back (🧘) . On that note, we have plenty of trips to watch comedy as well as many socials! We welcome all new members, from freshers to PhD students, regardless of previous comedic experience. Take me for example - I joined comedy in my third year with no experience and now I’m thrivinggg 😁😁😁

!!! welcome week 2026 !!!
Congratz on making it to Warwick 🔥🚒!
Firstly, we will be performing a cheeky bit of standup in the Piazza on Sunday 27/09. See what we have to offer, decide if you deem us funny or not, and have a giggle! Because I will be there. And I am funny.
You can find us at the Societies Fair on Wednesday 30/09. Get to know our exec team and learn what we have planned for the year 👀
Then, on Friday 02/10 at 12-2pm in A1.11 (Social Sciences) we have our women’s session of comedy! Come along and get a taster of what our sessions look like, have a chat and get to know the funny women of Warwick (let’s be real guys women are funnier.), and have a chill time! We will playing lots of games, exploring both standup and sketch. Yayyy!!!
Also on Friday 02/10 at 4-6pm in OC1.04 (Oculus) we have our general session of comedy! Similar format, (but less swag), we will be playing lotsa games and creating some cutsie lil sketches 😼😼😼
Finally, on Saturday 03/10 at 7-9pm in the Graduate (located in the Dirty Duck), we will be having our first standup show extravaganza of the year!!! 🎉🎉🎉 We are headlined by the amazingg Adele Cliff (who won the UK Pun Championship in 2020 as well as Dave's funniest joke of the Fringe multiple times) who will be performing half an hour of material for us. Afterwards, our exec will be performing their material! It’s a great, silly, fun night. Come along babygirl !!!
standup sessions
time: every Monday from 6-7.30pm
location: Term 1 in OC1.04; Term 2 / 3 in OC1.03
These workshops are comprised of ~1 hour of warmup games ( e.g. ‘would I lie to you’-esque shenanigans ) and watching a couple of standup sets, revolving around a specific theme, like how to find your on stage persona, plus half an hour of writing time. During this writing time, people in the society can test out new material. Standup by nature is a solo pursuit, but we take a collaborative approach to it in sessions 😎😎😎
sketch sessions
time: every Friday from 6-7.30pm
location: Term 1 in OC0.05; Term 2 / 3 in FAB 2.43
These workshops are comprised similarly to sketch sessions, with ~1 hour of improvised games and watching a couple sketches, and half an hour of writing time. Again - this is a collaborative environment! These sessions are a great way to find people to write sketches with :) Many cool sketches have been written in sessions - like this one :o
SHOWS !?!?!??
We hold ~3 standup gigs each term, typically in the Graduate (which you can find in the Dirty Duck). These are non-auditioned shows where you have a chance to perform your material (~7 min slots). Want to show your friends and flatmates that you actually do have jokes? Then sign up!
We hold one sketch show each term, typically in the Warwick Arts Centre (WAC!!!). There are multiple ways to get involved in these shows - whether that be writing sketches, directing, performing or helping with the tech! These are a lot of fun, a great way to push your comedic skills and to show your friends, flatmates and family alike your fantastic acting chops 😼😼😼
In addition to this, we regularly seek out off-campus opportunities for our members to perform, including events organised in collaboration with comedy societies from other universities!
We also take part in the Warwick Student Arts Festival that happens every term 3, where we perform a sketch show and a standup show. Below, you can see our most recent performances from 2026 😱 For some reason, our sketch show has a magician’s show tacked on after us… But that one was a great watch as well so I’d recommend!!!
Edinburgh Fringe 😱😱😱
Yes!!! You heard that right, we perform at the Edinburgh Fringe each August! For those that don’t know, the Edinburgh Fringe is the biggest performing arts festival in the world. It's a very exciting opportunity - to be able to watch so much comedy - and to have the chance to perform... I mean what a flex!!! Our timetable is subject to change, but last year we had a week's run each for sketch and standup. The opportunity to perform at the Fringe with us is open to any member, so if this interests you, please keep your eyes peeled for more updates down the line!

socials & fun hee hee
As well as performing comedy we love 🫶 to watch comedy. There are lots of great comedians who perform every term right on our doorstep at the Warwick Arts Centre, for which we get discounted group deals (woaaahhhh). We also do trips further afield to Birmingham, Leicester and beyond!
We hold lots of socials each term, which is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow members !!! After most sessions, we head to the Dirty Duck pub for some casual chit chat. We also run socials like Taskmaster nights, Last One Laughing, pub crawls, scavenger hunts, etc.!!!
flexing things and stuff
We have had multiple very talented performers in our society, including Fred Carver who won the Chortle Student Comedy Competion in 2025, as well as multiple other finalists in the past including Henry Shannon, Charlie Humphrey and more. We compete in this competition every year and regularly have students make it to the final stages - in 2025 we had 9 of our members make it to the semi-finals! We have had lots of Warwick Comedy Alumni go onto become successful comedians, writers and actors. For example: Eric Rushton who won the Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award in 2023; Adele Cliff, who won the UK Pun Championship in 2020 as well as Dave's funniest joke of the Fringe multiple times; and Kat Sadler who won a Bafta for Such Brave Girls in 2024, a show she directed and starred in, as well winning the Royal Television Society Programme award for best comedic writer in 2026.
