Warwick Comedy Society offers the opportunity to write, perform and direct comedy - from sketch to stand-up - putting on shows throughout the year and then taking them to the Edinburgh Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival and elsewhere. But there's no pressure to perform - we also have plenty of trips just to watch comedy as well as many socials to attend. We welcome all new members, from freshers to PhD students, regardless of previous comedic experience!
Every Friday from 6-8pm in H0.58. We hold workshops to write and perform sketches, and play improv games. There's opportunities to perform in, or direct, our end of term shows, in addition to taking shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival and the Scottish Student Comedy Festival. We were even named 'best student sketch show' by EdFringe Review in 2015! Some of our sketches get filmed or played on student radio.

Our stand-up workshops are Wednesdays at 6-7pm in H0.60 (room subject to change - please check our FB group) where we test out new material and play writing games. Every term we put on several stand-up shows for students to watch or perform alongside a professional headliner, in The Graduate on campus, or The Royal Pug in Leamington. We take our shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival, Swindon Fringe and Birmingham Comedy Festival, as well as encouraging members to do outside gigs.
We also host shows at the SU such as the Freshers' Gig - with recent headliners such as Joe Lycett, Ed Gamble, Felicity Ward and Matt Richardson - and the Midlands heat of the Chortle Student Comedy Awards, in which we have produced 2 finalists and 9 semi-finalists. The finalists also get to perform at Latitude Festival!

OTHER FILMED PROJECTS
We not only perform our sketches every term, but we also produce short films!
As well as performing comedy, we also watch comedy. There are loads of great comedians who perform every term right on our door step at the Warwick Arts Centre, and we get discounted group deals. Then there's the trips further afield to watch comedy in Birmingham, Leicester, London and beyond! We watch stand-up specials and sitcoms on Netflix, and there's our own library of comedy DVDs that any of our members can rent for free! Plus, we encourage everyone to come along and watch our own high quality gigs.
TOURS AND SOCIALS
Every August we stay for the full 3½ weeks of the Edinburgh Fringe, performing our sketch and stand-up shows for 2 weeks. It is an amazing opportunity to perform at the greatest arts festival in the world, and to see some fantastic shows! At the 2017 Fringe we ran our first sketch showcase with the Edinburgh Revue, Sheffield Revue and Birmingham Footnotes - we hope to turn this into an annual occasion. We also perform at the Leicester Comedy Festival in February, where we have been described as 'one of the highlights' by JokesOnUs. In 2018, we attended the Student Comedy Festival which is held every February in Edinburgh, and met different student comedy groups from across the UK. We also performed at the Swindon Fringe for the first time. Some of our members also go on comedy writing trips, such as to the Lake District.
Comedy are one of the most socially active societies, with weekly socials such as Laser Quest, Pub Crawls, Quizzes, Circling or our classic End of Term Curry - not to mention regularly watching comedy shows. You'll also find us in the Dirty Duck or Bar Fusion after each of our sessions. For 2020/21, we also hope to collaborate and exchange workshops with other societies and sports clubs.
