Elections manifestos - guidance for students

A number of clubs and societies are now running their elections on the SU website. Whilst we our doing our utmost to facilitate this, unfortunately it is being impeded by some candidates for election who are using language which is inappropriate to appear on the Warwick SU site.

Please note that it is the responsibility of Society and Club Execs to ensure that elections are run properly and give guidance to your members on what is appropriate in the election process!

 Language which is not acceptable includes -

* Expletives
* Sexual references
* Encouragement of excessive drinking/drunkenness
* References to drug-taking
* Discriminatory language

Use of such language in manifestos will result in the candidate being asked to change the content. This could delay any election and, if not amended, could lead to the candidate having no manifesto displayed when polling does open.

We ask students to bear in mind that using inappropriate language is potentially damaging to the reputation of your club/society, the SU and the candidate who uses it, as it could be used against you in the future if displayed publicly in an election!
