News from Sabbatical Officers

01. Holding the University to account as it reforms its Disciplinary processes

  • Ensure the University implements or works towards implementing all 30 recommendations in Dr. Sharon Persaud’s review.
  • Ensure the new process is fit for purpose.


01/10/2019 - New University sexual misconduct policy, that was co-written by the SU, approved.

08/10/2019  - Sabbatical Officers maintain a permanent seat on the Implementation Group - attending weekly meetings to feed into the Disciplinary Review and give feedback.

10/01/2020 - The Sabbatical Officers attended a Phase 2 Consultation meeting with the University to discuss the further development of the Report and Support system, specifically focusing on Hate Crime.

21/01/2020 - Released a statement condemning the University for refusing to adopt individual definitions of racial discrimination, and specifically not adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.
