Sports Officer

he/him

Hi I’m Will and I’m your Sports Officer this year. I’m passionate about ensuring that the sports community's issues are heard and dealt with quickly and determined to make sport at Warwick a safe, affordable and welcoming environment for everyone.

Course:
MMORSE

Hometown:
Louth, Lincolnshire

Fun fact about me:
I'm a big tennis fan (Nadal is the GOAT) and love everything Star Wars.

My role and what I hope to achieve this year:
As your Sports Officer, my role is to represent the views of our sporting members to the University. Given this, I plan to have regular meetings with club presidents and execs to truly understand their needs.
When I'm not discussing the issues I plan to be leading the change, focusing on:

  • Reviewing how we can end sexual misconduct on campus, requiring more club correspondence signposting the services available and working on codes of conduct that will directly tackle the issue.
  • Working with liberation PTOs and societies to create an ally system to provide support to members of marginalised groups in accessing otherwise daunting activities.
  • Establishing an annual large-scale charity event for all clubs to collaborate on.
  • Building a new website to centralise BUCS results, sporting achievements, exec support, as well as coordinate Varsity and host live streams of matches.
  • Reducing the cost of sport through sponsorships negotiated at an SU level and continued discussions with university leadership about Club Pass prices.

I'm also passionate about many things non-sport and always happy to chat about these as well.
