The University of Warwick Rock Society is a society for all lovers of rock music, be it heavy metal to alternative rock, classic rock to pop punk. We welcome undergraduates and postgraduates alike, so don't be shy!
We're also the inaugural and repeated winners of the Warwick Rocksoc Award For Outstanding Societies Called Warwick RockSoc, which isn't to be sniffed at.
The society is a chance for people with similar interests to meet up and have a chat and you're always bound to find a gig buddy if you have no one to see your favourite band with. Black clothing, tattoos and lots of piercings are not mandatory, so don't be afraid to seek us out even if it's half way through the academic year.
We hold a whole range of socials, but you can always count on us being in The Dirty Duck or Terrace Bar on campus every Tuesday from 7 pm. There's no pressure to come every week and we also hold a plethora of other activities throughout the year: live music events, club nights, curry socials, bowling, laser tag, festivals, pub crawls and our summer BBQ.
We're always around for Crash, the SU's rock, metal, punk and ska night in The Copper Rooms, which is usually held two times a term. We also have our own event known as pre-Crash (imaginative, right?), where we circle, talk music, and enjoy a playlist of requests from everyone in the society!
We organise trips to gigs, both in the local area (Coventry's Kasbah has seen the likes of Skindred and The Darkness in recent years) and further afield to Birmingham. Download, and Bloodstock festivals are also not to be missed every summer, which we usually go to as a group. Our termly Birmingham Bar Crawl isn't to be missed, usually culminating in a trip to the legendary Eddie's night at Tunnel Club.
If you want to keep up to date with everything we do, then join the society (log in with your University IT Services details and go to the "Join" box on the right). This way you can get our weekly emails Lastly, don't forget to like us on Facebook!
