Welcome to the Warwick Coding Society!

We are a free to join society focused on making coding accessible to all students as well as helping advanced student coders in their careers. We run various events, workshops, socials, a mentorship program, and also offer free courses to all students members! 

 

We offer:

New to Coding?

  • Mentorship Program: Begin your coding journey with a student mentor! You will have weekly catchups with your mentor and will have access to all our courses and workshops, apply here.
  • Online Courses: We have our free Python course live on our website, we will soon be adding our Java course as well as an SQL course. (Next year, we will focus on Javascript, C++ and HTML/CSS)
  • Weekly Workshops: We have a weekly workshop covering our Python course, we will soon also be running Java and SQL workshops.

Good at Coding?

  • Student Mentor: Become a student mentor and help guide beginner students in their coding journey. You are not meant to be a private tutor, but rather a friend and guide them with tips as well as our own resources, apply here.
  • Workshops Tutor: Become a Workshop tutor and lead our weekly 1 hour workshops! Remember, the best way to show companies that you are good at something is by teaching it! Apply here.
  • Thursday Talks: Are you particularly interested in a certain topic and would like to share it with other students? Contact us and we will book you to participate in our weekly Thursday Talk!

Weekly Events:

  • Tuesday Vibe (7-8pm on Discord)Come relax with us after classes on our Discord server, we play mini-games such as Geoguesser, Skribbl.io, Typeracer and more!
  • Wednesday Workshop (4-6pm Oculus OC1.01)
    • 4pm - 5pm: Python Beginner Lesson (Our Lessons cover all the Python basics such as Strings, Variables, Functions, Loops etc...)
    • 5pm - 6pm: Coding Night (Come work on your projects, get coding help, or just to chill with other student coders!)
  • Thursday Talks (7-8pm on Teams or in Person): Every Thursday we aim to have a guest speaker on different tech-related topics.

Other offerings:

  • We also run socials very such as circlings and dinners, and will soon be running sports events!
  • Next year we plan on having a 5-a-side Football team, if you're interested get in touch!
  • We participate in the hackathon WarwickHACK
  • We also run revision sessions for CS courseworks, and plan on doing it for some Maths, Physics and DS modules as well.
