Welcome to Warwick Comedy!
Warwick Comedy Society offers the opportunity to write, perform and direct comedy - from sketch to stand-up - putting on shows throughout the year!
But there's no pressure to perform - all of our sessions are welcoming and laid back. We also have plenty of trips just to watch comedy as well as many socials to attend. We welcome all new members, from freshers to PhD students, regardless of previous comedic experience!
SKETCH
Every Friday from 6-7:30pm in (Room to be decided, keep an eye on our Instagram/Whatsapp - Links found below). We hold workshops to write and perform sketches, and play improv games. There's opportunities to perform in, or direct, our end of term shows, in addition to taking shows to the Edinburgh Fringe!

STAND-UP
Our stand-up workshops are Wednesdays at 6-7.30pm in (Room to be decided, keep an eye on our Instagram/Whatsapp - Links found below). Where we test out new material and play writing games. Every term we put on several stand-up shows for students to watch or perform, in The Graduate on campus, or other off-campus venues. We take our shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and we seek out opportunities for acts to perform on the open mic circuit as well as any other gigs.
We have had multiple very talented performers in our society, including Fred Carver who won the Chortle Student Comedy Competion in 2025. As well as multiple other finalists in the past including Henry Shannon, Charlie Humphrey and more. We compete in this competition every year and regularly have students make it to the final stages (In 2025 we had 9 of our members make it to the semi-finals). We have had lots of Warwick Comedy Alumni go onto become successful Comedians, Writers and Actors. For example Eric Rushton (Won the Channel 4 Sean Lock Comedy Award in 2023). Adele Cliff (Won the UK Pun Championship in 2020 as well as Dave's funniest joke of the Fringe multiple times) and Kat Sadler (Won a Bafta for her Television series that she wrote and acted in 'Such Brave Girls'). APPRECIATION
As well as performing comedy, we also watch comedy. There are loads of great comedians who perform every term right on our door step at the Warwick Arts Centre, and we get discounted group deals. Then there's the trips further afield to watch comedy in Birmingham, Leicester, London and beyond! We watch stand-up specials and sitcoms on Netflix.

TOURS AND SOCIALS
Every August we head to the Edinburgh Fringe, performing our sketch and stand-up shows for 2 weeks. It is an amazing opportunity to perform at the greatest arts festival in the world, and to see some fantastic shows!
On the social front, we organise many socials throughout each term, examples of which are pub crawls, Taskmaster nights, scavenger hunts, zine-making, watching comedy specials and much more!
