Warwick Mahjong Society

Welcome to Warwick Mahjong Society!

The Warwick Mahjong Society is dedicated to promoting Mahjong, a popular game in the Chinese community that combines strategy and skill, and serves as a great social activity.

We are an inclusive community with members ranging from complete beginners to keen enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a complete novice, the Warwick Mahjong Society welcomes you to explore the game, develop new skills, and have fun along the way!

What is Mahjong?

Simply put, Mahjong is a 4-player game where players draw and discard tiles to build towards a winning hand. There are different variants, yet we will mainly be playing Hong Kong Mahjong and Japanese Riichi Mahjong. We provide material for beginners here. Members can drop in to our events, where we are happy to teach!

Events

Our society offers a variety of events. We host weekly game nights for casual play every Wednesday from 6 - 10pm, tournaments that foster friendly competition, and more. Don’t worry if you are new to Mahjong, we host teaching sessions as well!
