ADHD Society

Who are you?

Welcome to the ADHD Society, a society run by students with ADHD, for students with ADHD! Our goal is to provide an accessible and welcoming community, to support and advocate for neurodivergent people in the university, and to improve perception of ADHD as a whole.

We serve as a welcoming community for people with ADHD, other neurodiverse people, and even people who are just interested in neurodiversity - whether you have a friend or family member with ADHD, or just take an interest. We also provide a platform for our members to socialise and get peer support and advice from folk who have gone through the same experiences.

So whether you are looking for somewhere to start with adjusting to university life as a fresher, suspect you might be neurodiverse yourself, are a seasoned student who has your own advice to share, or just want to learn more about us and how to support your loved ones, this is the place for you!

You do not need a diagnosis to join the society or show up to our events, nor do you need to have ADHD to be perfectly welcome here! You will also be happy to hear that we are a Fee Exempt Society, meaning we are free to join!

So, what do you do?

Study and Welfare Sessions

Every week, we host Study and Welfare Sessions where you can study and get anything you need to get done in a group setting.

Body Doubling is a productive strategy that many people with ADHD find beneficial in carrying out tasks that may be frustrating or require a significant push to get started - It just involves having the presence of another person, a “Body Double”, to keep you accountable. Our Study and Welfare Sessions are a great way of benefiting from this.

Typically*, we will have two rooms booked each week: A Quiet Room, intended for quiet work and minimal distraction, and a Loud Room, allowing more casual conversation and socialisation if you prefer more stimuli as you work.

Feel free to bring lunch, speak to our exec, or bring any friends who want to come along. (We also have fidget toys that you might like to use while you work!)

*Whether or not we run the session or have the two rooms depends on exec availability.

Social Events/Workshops

In addition to our Study Sessions, we also run a variety of social events - at least once a week if we can help it!

Our events range from chill arts and crafts sessions, to drinking events at TBar (Terrace Bar), and study skill workshops. All of our drinking events are sober friendly and will always have a sober exec present to ensure that you have a good time, whether you are drinking or not!

Are you too busy to come to our events? That’s okay! (Though do remember to take time for yourself to breathe). If you can’t come to our events, you can always talk to other members through our Discord Server or Whatsapp Community. There, you can ask questions to other members who might have more experience in any issues you might be having, or of course, can just chat and yap, and get to know your fellow students!

How do I get involved?

Interested in getting involved? Well, every year, like every other society, we run elections to build our new Exec Team, so please do run if you want to have a say and help with the running of our student-led society!

Are you a fresher but are eager to get involved? Ask us about becoming a Fresher’s Rep, and you can help us shape the society and lend us a hand!

Where can I find you?

To get updates on our events, follow our Instagram - our primary platform for event announcements and scheduling. We also recommend joining our Discord and Whatsapp Community!

If you want to contact the exec team directly, DMing us on Instagram is the best way to reach out if you need to ask a question. Our email is also active for more formal enquiries and communication.

We try to be active on all of our community platforms, but sometimes we mess up - if you have a question about events, scheduling, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us. This also applies if you have a welfare concern, you are welcome to reach out to one of our welfare officers or any other available exec.
