The Warwick Africa Summit is an interdisciplinary conference focussed on African development and, solely organized by students.
Our aim is to explore the potential Africa can unlock when it is united and works for the greater good of the continent as a whole. Our summit sets itself apart from the conventional summits in its unique approach to the region, exploring new and inspirational ways to tackle challenges that have hindered Africa’s progress past and present, as well as how we can enter a more unified and dynamic future.
The summit presents a platform to address the different difficulties faced by the continent through the multi-disciplinary keynote speeches and panels of Human and Economic Development, Innovation, Governance, and, Culture and History. Our speakers range from politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs, activists to philanthropist who have dedicated their lives to unlocking the continent’s true potential. We aim to generate engagement, innovation and collaboration between students, academics and practitioners as well as raise awareness of a continent, which is not always understood. The 2018 edition witnessed a sold-out event with five panels on Culture and History, Innovation, Human Development, and Diplomacy and Governance. Speakers at the event included Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria, Aliko Dangote and Isabelle De Santos respectively the richest man and woman in Africa, Amina Muhammed (Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations) and Charles Adegun Phillips (Former Genocide and War Crimes Prosecutor, International Lawyer and Founder of Charles Anthony LLP).
