Card Readers

We have four Square card readers (paired with SU mobile phones) for clubs and societies to use for activities.

A ~2% transaction fee is deducted by the provider per donation, and funds (less fees) will be transferred to your club/society account within five working days of return.

How to book a card reader

  1. Complete the request form below. This will be checked by club and society coordinators. Do not assume it is booked until you receive a confirmation email from Student Activities.
  2. Pick up the reader on the day from the Finance Team starting at 9:30 AM. The person named on the booking must present their Student ID. Please allow 30 minutes for a quick operation tutorial.
  3. Return the device to the Finance Office by 4:00 PM (3:30 PM on Fridays). Details of the amount collected will be recorded, and can be emailed to the club/society if required. Note: If you cannot meet the Friday closing time, inform Finance during collection for alternative drop-off details.

Special Requests: If you need multiple readers or a multi-day loan, contact Finance well in advance.

Connection / Tech Issues: If you lose mobile signal, the reader can still capture payments locally – this will be synced when you regain signal. For any other tech issues, return to the Finance Office for help.
