Over the past week, we’ve continued to push the University to properly support students through a much more robust safety net policy, whilst also representing students at a range of University committees, and making the University aware of the key issues currently affecting students.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the key things we’ve been working on and lobbying for over the past week:

What we’ve been working on...

  • Continuing to campaign for a comprehensive safety net package. Raised York’s reweighting principle with the University to see whether it would be possible here at Warwick.
  • Helped run an Education Partnership event between the SU and University which enabled course reps to tell the university their thoughts on various topic from blended learning to plans for term 3.
  • Held a successful Housing Day, alongside the SU Advice Centre and Warwick Accommodation, to support students with house-hunting through the pandemic.
  • Set up a meeting between the SU Education Committee and members of the University Education Executive so they could raise their concerns around the lack of safety net.
  • Held three Town Hall events to discuss how we can better support and represent students throughout the lockdown.
  • Starting consultation with sports clubs as part of the Sports Partnership Review, and looking into new models for delivering student sport.
  • Continued working with Officers at other SUs to discuss national action to urge the Government to issue rent and tuition fee refunds.
  • Creating plans for series of social events to help tackle loneliness in the student community.
  • Continued work on the development of a renewed Buddy Scheme to support students with making friends and socialising during lockdown.
  • Working with the University to ensure there is ample study space on-campus, and that information about Library services are properly communicated.
