Supervisor Relationships – your feedback wanted!

As Postgraduate Researchers, a big part of your life here at Warwick will be your working relationship with your supervisor. They are here to help you navigate your research, meaning that the relationship between you and your supervisor can be extremely useful - but also sometimes difficult to manage. Expectations about when to meet, what progress needs to be made, and how much support you need can sometimes be blurry and undefined, and this can cause problems for your work.

Here at the SU, we want to look more deeply into supervisor relationships to see how we can better support our students in their research. This may be developing better training provisions, better policies for monitoring relationships, or better reporting systems for when things go wrong.

If you are a postgrad researcher, please fill out our online survey about your supervisor. There are two sections: one with questions about your practical relationship, and one about some more sensitive issues. Don’t worry – you don’t have to fill out part two if you don’t want to. All the results will be anonymised and will not get back to your supervisor, so be honest!
