Cocktail: new night starting in The Terrace Bar this Thursday!

Continuing the expansion of the termly Venue and Entertainments programme here at the SU which has already seen the introduction of Juicy, Reflektor and Glow over the past two terms, I’m pleased to announce that we have another new night starting this week: COCKTAIL!

Replacing the now-defunct Mixology, this is a brand new event which will see the Terrace Bar team serve up an imaginative array of specials on a different weekly theme every Thursday evening during term-time. As you can see, we’ve repurposed the poster from the highly dubious 1988 film of the same name starring Tom Cruise – a total absurdity from the age of megabucks star vehicles which transports the “Tom has a crisis of confidence” genre to a decidedly baffling choice of setting. I mean, what next – a nightclub bouncer plagued by self-doubt? (We had to wait another year for that one, in the form of Road House starring Patrick Swayze).

Sadly, Tom isn’t available to serve on the night due to prior commitments – which is a shame, since there are few sights as capable of inspiring such joy as the Cruisester shouting “WHOOO!” while tossing metal canisters around to The Hippy Hippy Shake. Thankfully, the T-Bar team are on-hand to take up the mantle, and will be serving up some truly lip-smacking tipples for your delectation – this week’s theme is “Breakfast” (which I would like to assure you here and now isn’t some bizarre Heston Blumenthal-style experiment in culinary oddities). Come along on Thursday to check out the menu!

As always, you can let us know what you think of the new event (or any other aspects of the SU Entertainments programme) via or by getting in touch with me directly. We hope you enjoy it!
