It’s your #TeamWarwick - be a part of it!

The past few weeks at Warwick have seen Sports Clubs showcase everything they do, from Sports Fair and Sports Day to charity events, to the first BUCS Wednesday of the year! Amongst all these activities, clubs have also been running their fantastic tasters and trials, welcoming new and returning students into their clubs.

Chatting to new students during Welcome Week, it’s amazing just how many people name sport as their primary interest outside of their degree course. Thousands of students opt to become part of our vibrant #TeamWarwick family - whether you want to play sport competitively or casually, get involved in charity fundraising and trips & tours or just take advantage of the incredible social opportunities on offer, I can guarantee that joining a Sports Club will be one of the best decisions you make while at uni. And, as we always say to people, don’t be afraid to try something new – we’ve seen people arrive here with no previous experience of a given sport who end up leaving Warwick as a national champion!

Now that you’ve had the chance to see what’s on offer and hopefully try out different sports, it’s time to sign up for the year and become an active part of #TeamWarwick! It can sometimes be a little confusing figuring out what you need to buy in order to become a member, so hopefully the steps below should help to simplify the process.

STEP 1: BUY YOUR WARWICK SPORT MEMBERSHIP

Warwick Sport is the University department which runs the sporting facilities on campus – before you can join any Sports Clubs (which are administered separately via the Students’ Union), you’ll need to make sure you’ve bought the membership which best reflects which Warwick Sport services you’ll want to use during the year.

See HERE for the various options - these prices are staggered to reflect the level of involvement you’ll require, and to ensure that people only pay for access to the facilities they need.

Obviously, some students will just want to join a Sports Club and not require additional access, which is why a separate discounted membership has been introduced this year: the CLUB PASS. Costing £55 for On-Campus Clubs and £26 for Off-Campus Clubs, this is the Warwick Sport membership to go for if you just want to join one or more clubs and don’t require the use of other campus facilities!

STEP 2: BUY YOUR SPORTS FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP

The SU funds and administers our 65 Sports Clubs - buying membership to the Sports Federation (£32 per year) grants you access to any of our Sports Clubs, and helps to fund the Exec support, insurance, club equipment and activities required for them to operate.

STEP 3: BUY YOUR INDIVIDUAL SPORTS CLUB MEMBERSHIP(S)

Now that you’ve fulfilled the base requirements and both have the Warwick Sport and Sports Federation memberships, fill your boots! You can now sign up to as many Sports Clubs as you like, at £6 per club.

FAQ

IS THE CLUB PASS INCLUDED IN THE ‘ACCESS ALL AREAS’ WARWICK SPORT MEMBERSHIP?

YES – both On-Campus AND Off-Campus Club Passes are covered by this, so you don’t need to buy a Club Pass if you buy the AAA membership for £260. However, you DO need to buy an SU Sports Federation membership to then be able to join Clubs.

I WANT TO JOIN AN ON-CAMPUS AND AN OFF-CAMPUS CLUB – DO I NEED TO BUY TWO SEPARATE CLUB PASSES?

NO – the On-Campus Club Pass also covers Off-Campus clubs. Therefore, you just need to buy the On-Campus Club Pass for £55.

I’VE BOUGHT MY WARWICK SPORT MEMBERSHIP OR CLUB PASS, BUT HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO ADD SPORTS FEDERATION OR CLUB MEMBERSHIPS TO MY ACCOUNT.

As we operate on separate systems, there’s a slight delay between Warwick Sport’s purchase information syncing up with ours, so you may not be able to buy these immediately after joining Warwick Sport. Hopefully if you wait about an hour before trying to buy Sports Fed or Club memberships, this should solve the problem!

WHERE CAN I FIND THE CLUB PASS OR SPORTS FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP ONLINE?

If you add an individual Sports Club membership to your basket on the SU website, a prompt should come up, enabling you to add these to your basket before proceeding to checkout.

I PURCHASED SPORTS FEDERATION AND INDIVIDUAL CLUB MEMBERSHIPS LAST YEAR – DO I NEED TO BUY THEM AGAIN?

Yes – these are valid for the academic, rather than calendar year.

ARE DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS OR MEMBERSHIPS BOUGHT LATER IN THE YEAR?

Unfortunately we aren’t able to offer termly discounts, as the membership fees help to fund our clubs’ activities all year round. Therefore, the earlier you buy them, the more use you’ll get out of them!

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ‘STANDARD’ AND ‘ASSOCIATE’ CLUB MEMBERSHIP?

If you’re a current student, you want to buy the Standard Membership. Associate Memberships are for alumni or non-students who may be involved in a Sports Club for any reason! Please note that the SU website will stop you being able to buy Associate Memberships if you don’t meet the relevant membership requirements, so make sure you’ve added the right product to your basket.

CAN I GET A REFUND ON INDIVIDUAL CLUB MEMBERSHIP IF I CHANGE MY MIND?

Yes – we have a 14-day ‘cooling-off period’ on membership purchases, during which time we’re able to refund membership to any clubs which turn out to be not for you! After this time, however, memberships are non-refundable.
