Culture, Politics and Free Speech: Britain in 2018

Event from PPE Society

Tuesday 09 October 2018, 6.00PM - Tuesday 09 October 2018, 7.30PM

L4

Warwick PPE Society is back with its first Speaker Series event of the 2018/19 year this Tuesday at 18:00. Coming to speak is none other than Anne Marie Waters, leader of political party ‘For Britain’.

Runner up in the 2017 UKIP leadership election, Waters is a long-time politician and activist in the United Kingdom. Formerly a member of the Labour party, she became disillusioned with the British establishment, prompting the creation of her own political party, For Britain, in 2017.

Waters’ talk is titled ‘Culture, Politics and Free Speech: Britain in 2018’. A feminist and gay rights activist, she will be discussing the state of rights and freedoms of women in the UK, the importance of defending free speech, as well as the contemporary issues of immigration and multiculturalism.

IMPORTANT
In order to attend this event, you must:
- Get a FREE ticket HERE. This will add you to a list, giving you access on the night.
- Bring your university photo ID card. Failure to have a ticket or photo ID will mean you are unable to enter the venue.

Please arrive at 18:00. A speech by Ms Waters will be followed by Q&A, which will be your chance to discuss, question and challenge the speaker. The Q&A will be a mixture of pre-selected questions and open floor questions - look out for the chance to submit your question on this event page, with the best ones being able to be asked on the night.
