DofE Training Weekend 2020 - Brecon Beacons (T2 W6)
Event from Duke of Edinburgh's Award Society
Friday 14 February 2020, 6pm - 11pm
Brecon Beacons National Park
Join us for our weekend trip to the Brecon Beacons where we will be doing lots of walking and taking in the fresh air and great views! For participants, this will be the opportunity for you to put the skills you have acquired in the training sessions to good use in preparation for the summer expeditions. We will be walking in groups on routes that are appropriate to everyone’s ability supervised by Exec and those experienced with DofE and hill walking.
This trip is compulsory* for Gold Award participants but is open to post-golds and anyone who just fancies a weekend away, regardless of any prior experience or DofE involvement.
We will be leaving campus at 18:30 on Friday 14th February and returning at around 22:00 on Sunday 16th February.
The ticket price is just £42 for members. This includes:
- Group Equipment (Maps, Compasses, First aid kits etc.)
- Group meal for Saturday evening
Kit list available here.
We will be staying in a bunkhouse for both nights that has heating and a well-equipped kitchen. However, you will need to bring (or borrow from us) a roll mat and sleeping bag.
Tickets have previously sold out fast, so be sure to get yours quickly!
Please note: You will need to complete our Next of Kin form and Disclaimer before you can attend the trip. Also, you will need to have appropriate hiking kit. Please ensure you have the appropriate equipment as shown in the kit list, which will also be sent out nearer the event.
*If this is a problem, please discuss this with us in advance and we will be happy to help. May not be compulsory if you have completed Silver, but again, please discuss this with us in advance.
