The cost of on-campus accommodation has increased by 7% since last year, with only 1% of on-campus accommodation rated affordable by NUS standards and the only affordable accommodation, Whitefields, set to be demolished. This has negative impacts on all students - according to Save the Student, 38% of students have considered dropping out due to worries over rent. The Warwick Housing Organisation has been set up by students to lobby the university for better quality, more affordable on-campus accommodation. Our motion will allow the Students’ Union to support the Warwick Housing Organisation in campaigning for rent reductions, future rent freezes and better quality accommodation.
