Adopting the Coventry Food Charter: Integrating approaches to food sustainability - The 'For' case

This motion mandates the SU to sign the Coventry Food Charter, an initivative by Feeding Coventry, Coventry City Council and academics from Coventry and Warwick Uni, as well as adopting its principles for future activities and policy.

The Food Charter aims to tackle issues like food poverty, unsustainable farming, food waste, health and education around food.

You should vote FOR this motion because it will:

  • Help to unify campaigns and SU activity on all food issues, by providing clear goals and focus
  • Provide a framework for future action
  • Ensure the focus on food and food waste by the current Environment and Ethics Officers is maintained in the future, because these issues cannot be tackled in one term in office
  • Connect Warwick SU and students to the local community and help them reach their goals
  • Encourage the university to take the same steps, as they are currently considering adopting the Food Charter as well
  • Support engagement with NUS intiatives such as Student's Eats and increase their profile and make Warwick SU a leading voice on these issues

Support environmental campaigns and vote FOR this motion!
