It is with deep sadness that we must share the news that one of our SU Society Co-ordinators, Annas Mazhar, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday of last week.
There is understandably a profound sense of shock and loss within the Student Activities team, and across the wider staff and student community. Annas was a highly valued and deeply cared-for colleague and friend, and his loss has had a significant impact on all who knew and worked alongside him. We recognise that this impact will continue as people take time to process such a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
We know that many of you, especially students from the societies Annas worked with, will also share in this sense of loss, and we are so very sorry to be delivering this news.
We are aware that Annas had been working closely with a number of societies on planning, development, and ongoing support for a range of activities and ventures. As we come to terms with his passing, there may understandably be some disruption to this work.
Please be assured that any urgent matters will be picked up and addressed as promptly as possible, and we are doing everything we can to ensure continuity of support during this difficult period.
Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and support. Our thoughts are with all of you, and with everyone who had the privilege of working with Annas.
