Being LGBTUA+ at Warwick

In 2017/18 we undertook the community-led "Being LGBTUA+ at Warwick" research project to better understand the experiences and needs of our LGBTUA+ community at Warwick.

The research found that:

  • 38% of LGBTUA+ students have experienced LGBTUAphobia at Warwick
  • 68% of LGBTUA+ trans students have experienced LGBTUAphobia at Warwick, compared with 31% of cis LGBTUA+ students
  • 63% of LGBTUA+ students feel supported by the University, and 75% by the Students' Union
  • 46% of trans students feel supported by the University, and 64% by the Students' Union
  • 59% of bi+ students feel supported by the University, and 78% by the Students' Union
  • 46% of ace/aro students feel supported by the University, and 77% by the Students' Union

The research also allowed us to better understand the forms of LGBTUAphobia experienced by the community, as well as what makes them feel (un)supported.
