The year is 2035, a global flu pandemic has wiped out the majority of the world’s population. The survivors… just so happen to be some of the most attractive people you’ve ever seen, and a dog called Jasper. Jacob Elordi and Margaret Qualley star in The Dog Stars, Ridley Scott’s new post-apocalyptic action thriller. The film follows a young pilot named Hig (Jacob Elordi) as he leaves the safety of his homestead and the company of his survivalist companion Bangley (Josh Brolin) in pursuit of the source of a mysterious radio signal. Tragedy, curiosity and an unwavering determination to survive are fuelling this refreshingly self-contained journey into the mysterious and strange depths of a post-disaster landscape.

With performances from Josh Brolin and Guy Pearce, The Dog Stars is driven by its characters. The film’s third act is unlike anything you’ll be expecting, with a truly bizarre performance by Allison Janney.  Behind the camera, Erik Messerschmidt’s cinematography is stunning, with luscious moments of aerial photography which provide respite from the harshness of the world below.  Margaret Qualley’s Cima is a sympathetic force in the film, and her curiosity – especially compared with her father Pops’ intensely suspicious demeanour – brings a much-needed compassion to the film.
