Come see Sleepless in Seattle on 35mm on the big screen in L3!
This Valentine’s Day, Warwick Student Cinema has the perfect evening planned, with not one but two of the finest romcoms to ever grace the silver screen. The first of these is When Harry Met Sally; the film’s title says it all really, but this is a thoroughly entertaining yet often powerful narrative concerning a single relationship across several years. Particularly of note is its cosy autumnal aesthetic thanks to the much missed Rob Reiner’s underrated directorial abilities and a certain sequence in a diner that is nothing short of unforgettable — if you’re unaware, believe me when I say it’ll be immediately apparent when you see it. Following this late ‘80s banger is Sleepless in Seattle, directed by Nora Ephron, who also happened to pen When Harry Met Sally, which is surely nothing but a benchmark of quality. This film sees journalist Annie fall in love with widower Sam; it’s an equally powerful film about the boundless connections wrought be love, and spearheaded by the always reliable and unquestionable talents of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. In all, both films are considered landmarks of their genre and will provide a perfect evening of romantic entertainment. [Sam Ripley]
