The WarwickSU Welfare Forum, composed of elected students and wellbeing advocates, reviews student wellbeing on campus and in the community. The forum evaluates campaigns, supports campaign leaders, and manages the SU Campaigns Fund. Students are encouraged to share insights or attend meetings to contribute to student welfare.

Welfare Forum

Every Forum is made up of dedicated students elected by YOU and each Forum has a specific focus.

Are you a society welfare officer? Or perhaps you play an integral part in your SSLC or your course supporting others? Or simply passionate about wellbeing? The Welfare Forum is here to support you. Get in touch with Welfare Forum and share your insights or come along to observe our next Forum!

The Welfare Forum will support and review student wellbeing on campus and in the community, support the work of campaign leaders and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns. The forum will also be accountable for the following funding pots allocated by the Union: SU Campaigns Fund.

Who we are

Welfare forum is a democratically elected group of students that serve as the beating heart of student welfare, actively ensuring wellbeing issues are heard, challenged, and turned into action.

The forum is made up of 11 voting student members, making sure voices from across the student community are at the table and the forefront of discussions. The VP for Welfare & Campaigns also has a seat at the table as a non-voting member. This means they play an active role in providing the forum with guidance and support. Alongside leveraging their knowledge of existing campaigns and initiatives to help connect the work of the forum to the wider Students’ Union, ensuring the forum scales its ideas, strengthens its impact and delivers strong outcomes for students all year round.

What we do

Welfare forum is where student wellbeing meets action and exists to:

  • Champion student wellbeing on campus and in the local community

  • Support, strengthen and empower student‑led welfare campaigns

  • Question what’s working, and call out what isn’t

  • Push for real change, not just good intentions

  • Decisons on how welfare funding is used, including the SU Campaigns Fund, to transform passion into progress by backing, building and delivering on student-led ideas.

General guidance and principles

Welfare Forum operates under the following principles:

  • Quorum shall be 50%, plus one of the voting members.

  • Meetings should be held at least once during each term.

  • After the election of all voting members, the Welfare Forum should elect a Chair at the first meeting of the Forum that will work with the student voice team to set the meeting agenda and keep discussions on track.

  • The Chair can be elected via co-option within the meeting, via an online form circulated to Forum members, or similar.

  • Forum meetings can be delivered in-person, online and/or hybrid.

  • Advisory and administrative support will be provided by an Advice Centre team member and a Student Voice Coordinator.
