Every Forum is made up of dedicated students elected by YOU and each Forum has a specific focus.

The core function of the Sustainability Forum will be to work with relevant staff, elected Officers and student groups to support work towards tackling climate change, and to support work to ensure an ethical Union and University.
Who are we
Sustainability Forum brings together students, elected Officers and relevant staff to support and drive forward sustainability work across the Union and University. A collaborative and action-focused group, made up of members who are passionate about tackling climate change and promoting ethical practices. Their role is to ensure that sustainability remains a priority within Union activity and the wider University community. Elected Officers work alongside Forum members, offering strategic insight and helping to connect student-led initiatives with Union and University priorities.
What we do
At the heart of the Union’s sustainability agenda, our core function is to support, shape, and champion environmental and ethical initiatives. THeir remit is to:

Work with relevant staff, elected Officers and student groups to progress sustainability initiatives

Support work aimed at tackling climate change across the Union and University

Promote and embed ethical practices within Union decision-making and operations

Encourage and amplify student-led sustainability projects and campaigns

Provide a space for collaboration, innovation, and sharing best practice on sustainability

Accountable for the Sustainability Funding pot administered by the Union and allocated by the University
General guidance and principles
Sustainability Forum operates under the following principles:

Quorum will be 50% plus one of the voting members

Meetings should be held at least once during each term

After the election or appointment of members, the Forum should elect a Chair at its first meeting

The Chair can be elected via co-option within the meeting, via an online form circulated to Forum members, or similar
-
Forum meetings can be delivered in-person, online and/or hybrid
-
Advisory and administrative support will be provided by the relevant Student Voice Team
