The WarwickSU Societies Forum, composed of elected students, aims to improve campus life and community. It supports existing societies and promotes new engagement opportunities on and off campus. Students can contribute by sharing ideas with Forum members or attending meetings.

Every Forum is made up of dedicated students elected by YOU and each Forum has a specific focus.

The Societies Forum will aid development of existing societies and highlight new and exciting opportunities for students to engage in society activities both on and off campus.

Who we are 

Societies Forum is where student life comes alive by transforming interests into communities. The forum, comprised of a group of democratically elected students, are the driving force in shaping the student societies that make university life more than just lectures and deadlines. From cultural groups to hobbies, causes, and interests, societies forum gives student communities the space and support that is necessary to grow campus wide.  

The VP Societies also has a seat at the table as a non-voting member and plays an active role in providing the forum team with guidance and support. This means that whether you’re leading a society, joining one, or starting something brand new, the Societies Forum works to make student‑led communities inclusive, sustainable, and full of life. 

What we do 

The Societies Forum exists to build, support and celebrate the very best of all student communities by: 

  • Supporting the development of existing societies 

  • Championing new and exciting society ideas 

  • Helping students get involved with societies on and off campus 

  • Removing barriers so societies can thrive and grow 

General guidance and principles 

Societies forum operates under the following principles: 

  • Quorum shall be 50%, plus one of the voting members. 

  • Meetings should be held at least once during each term. 

  • After the election of all voting members, the Societies Forum should elect a Chair at the first meeting of the Forum and will work with the student voice team to set the meeting agenda and keep discussions on track. 

  • The Chair can be elected via co-option within the meeting, via an online form circulated to Forum members, or similar. 

  • Forum meetings can be delivered in-person, online and/or hybrid. 

  • Advisory and administrative support will be provided by a student activities team member and a Student Voice Coordinator.
