Postgraduate Forum

Who we are

Postgraduate Forum is the driving force behind postgraduate representation, ensuring students are seen, heard and taken seriously. The forum, comprised of a democratically elected group of students, ensures that postgraduate life isn't an afterthought, but a core part of the Unions work by bringing together postgraduate experience, priorities and challenges all in one place to make meaningful impact.  The VP Postgraduate also has a seat at the table as a non-voting member and plays an active role in providing the forum with guidance and support on what matters most to PGs.

The forum is made up of 11 voting student members, making sure voices from across the PG community are at the table and the forefront of discussions.

As per the Warwick SU Byelaws, all members are formally recognised as SU Forum Members, and it selects three Reps to take student voice directly to Student Council.

What we do

PG Forum exists to drive change for postgraduate students by:

  • Discussing issues that matter to postgraduate students and their unique interests

  • Develop and push forward postgraduate‑focused policies

  • Support and shape campaigns led by, and for postgraduates

  • Help deliver events that build community and connection amongst postgraduate students

  • From taught postgraduates to researchers, the forum makes sure postgraduate needs, experiences, and ambitions are heard, represented, and acted on.

General guidance and principles

Postgraduate forum operates under the following principles:

  • Quorum shall be 50%, plus one of the voting members.

  • Meetings should be held at least once during each term.

  • After the election of all voting members, the Postgraduate Forum should elect a Chair at the first meeting of the Forum and will work with the student voice team to set the meeting agenda and keep discussions on track.

  • The Chair can be elected via co-option within the meeting, via an online form circulated to Forum members, or similar.

  • Forum meetings can be delivered in-person, online and/or hybrid.

  • Advisory and administrative support will be provided by a Student Voice Coordinator.
