Who we are

Academic Forum is where student learning takes center stage. Here, a group of democratically elected students take direct action to shape the academic experiences of student's campus wide. Overall, if it affects how and where you learn - this is where it’s discussed, challenged, and improved.  The Forum is made up of 11 voting student members, making sure voices from across the student community are at the table and the forefront of discussions. The VP for Education and VP Postgraduates also have seats as a non-voting members and play an active role in providng the Forum with guidance and support.  Leveraging their knowledge of the student experience and internal SU governance to help connect the work of the forum to the wider SU, ensuring the forum scales its ideas, strengthens its impact, and delivers stronger outcomes for students all year round.

What we do

Our core function is to protect, improve, and champion the student academic experience by:

  • Coordinating campaigns on teaching quality, assessment, and academic support

  • Representing students’ academic interests across the Union

  • Pushing for improvements to learning, feedback and course design

  • Making sure student voices shape decisions about education

The forum turns student experience into influence, helping ensure education works for students, not around them.
