Warwick Student Cinema: Call Me By Your Name - Early

Event from Warwick Student Cinema

Friday 05 June 2026, 6.30PM - Friday 05 June 2026, 8.30PM

L3

Come see Call Me By Your Name presented with stunning 4K laser projection on the big screen in L3!

“Call me by your name and I’ll call you by mine”

A delicate and fleeting love story told under sunlight, filtered through apertures in the tree canopies of rural Northern Italy, the cinematography is paired with some beautiful contributions from Sufjan Stevens. Graduate student Oliver joins Mr Pelman and his family over the summer of 1983 to assist with the professor’s academic research. What starts as disdain between Oliver and Mr Pelman’s son, Elio, penetrates first impressions and light brushes as they grow deeper into each other (17 and 24 btw…). Elio’s father delivers such a wise and deeply compelling monologue about the value of emotion, just touching the surface of many takeaways from this film. With over 800 thousand 5-star ratings on Letterboxd, Call Me By Your Name finds relatability in a million different ways, from a realistic and refreshing portrayal of familial relationships to self-conflict around what you should want and what you do want.  After all, is it better to speak or to die? Cicadas in the sticky blue night and rustic bicycle bells, Call Me by Your Name offers an unparalleled summer aesthetic, a reminder of the freedom that awaits us the sweeter side of exam season (peachy!).

Someone once asked, ‘do you think Armie Hammer is jealous that Timothée went on to star in Bones and All?’. Something to consider. [Holly Beaumont]
