Warwick Student Cinema: The Godfather (35mm)

Event from Warwick Student Cinema

Thursday 15 January 2026, 7.30PM - Thursday 15 January 2026, 9.30PM

L3

Come see The Godfather presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

The Godfather has perhaps the loftiest reputation of any film ever made. Often hailed as one of the greatest films of all time, I found it hard to meet this on its own terms when I first saw it. Now multiple years and watches down the line, I can affirm that it is an utterly fantastic, riveting, richly detailed and beautifully performed family drama. The film follows the Corleone mafia family through a tumultuous few years as they navigate betrayal and shifting family fortunes, centred around Al Pacino’s Michael, as he feels a desperate tear between his duty to his family and his desire to be free from this blood-soaked, merciless crime world. Full of riveting set pieces and some of my favourite performances of all time, The Godfather is an undeniable epic and still one of Francis Ford Coppola’s best films. A cornerstone in film history given its place in the New Hollywood shift of the 70s and the gangster genre. Rarely screened on gorgeous 35mm film, this will be a big screen experience for the ages. [Ollie Lambert]
