Come see Edward Scissorhands presented with 70mm Projection on the big screen in L3!

With an impressively diverse filmography under his belt (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland), I’ve always found myself asking: what does Johnny Depp actually look like? This movie did not get me any closer to the answer to my question. After Winona Ryder’s recent resurgence with Stranger Things and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, it was refreshing to revisit her 80s/90s Tim Burton quirky era. The story of Edward Scissorhands is odd, to say the least, but ever so endearing and moreish. The colour grading, beautiful frames, and idiosyncratic wardrobe solidified for me exactly why Tim Burton is such a strong answer to the question “who is your favourite director?”. To pair with the pleasing shots of this movie is the opportunity to enjoy it in 70mm film, a certain grandeur we are privileged to enjoy at Warwick Student Cinema. A charmingly subtle Christmas movie, Edward Scissorhands' cool and soothing tone makes for a gentle Saturday night watch nestled into week 8’s end. [Holly Beaumont]
