Based on the book by the same name, this story unravels the deep cutting emotion experienced by a shy young boy, Charlie. High school is hostile, and for many of us, a social tribulation. Themes of friendship, growth, and love are tenderly laced against irrevocable evils that explain why Charlie is the way that he is. Lerman portrays the complexity of Charlie’s mind in a hauntingly beautiful way, all while maintaining a crucial familiarity to the novel.
