Midlands Shield 2022

Event from Squash

Saturday 03 December 2022, 8.30AM - Saturday 03 December 2022, 6.00PM

Sports and Wellness Hub

Welcome to the inaugural midlands shield!
A team squash tournament where development/non-team players from all around the midlands come and fight to be crowned the best team who's nearest beach is skegness.

When is it?

8:30am - 6pm Saturday 3rd December 2022

Where is it?

Sports and Wellness Hub, University of Warwick, CV4 7EU. It is up to you to arrange transport to Warwick on the day. Parking is available at the centre (£1 for the whole day), or alternatively coventry train station is fairly near.

Who can play?

Any intermediate level players! (squashlevels < 500 if you have it). For Warwick students you must be signed up to the dev squad, and paid the team fees. We anticiapte a lot of demand so we will give priority to these people. For non warwick ask your exec :)

What does it cost / how do I buy a ticket?

Registering a team for the event costs £25. One person (the 'captain') needs to purchase the team ticket to register their team. Each team has 5 players, but we encourage you to bring a squad of 6 or 7 and rotate to give as many people as possible the chance to play and cover for any injuries/people pulling out (it's also cheaper if you split the £25 between more people). It is up to the captain of each team to submit a graded list of who is playing before the event - this can be done anytime up to the day before, and you will get a form after you buy the ticket.

You can additionlly purchase a tournament T shirt for £10 (anyone who was at inter uni will know these are worth it)

Tickets are on sale until 12pm noon Thursday 17th November (to give time for the T shirts etc to be ordered)

What is the format?

The exact format depends on how many teams sign up, but the current plan is to have a group stage, followed by a plate and a cup knockout stages. This makes sure each team gets at least 3 games.

Anything I've missed please don't hesitate to message @warwicksquash on instagram or email me (Matt) on matt.ball@warwick.ac.uk.

See you there!
