Food For Thought

Warwick SU's Food For Thought campaign is a dynamic, ambitious initiative that introduces new provisions to support students' wellbeing and academic success through improved access to healthy food.

This initiative is a practical response to the degree-awarding gap that is emerging for students from low socio-economic backgrounds. Food For Thought aims to provide good food for students who need it most. This campaign is much needed and long overdue; we must be innovative when meeting the needs of students hit hardest by the cost-of-living crisis.

Eat Well Hub

The Eat Well Hub scheme delivers free food for three hours a week with an emphasis on nutritious, energising options that promote student wellbeing and academic focus.

It takes place in The Green Room in Warwick SU North on Tuesdays from 8:30am–10:00am and Thursdays from 8:30am–10:00am. A range of healthy options including wholemeal bread, oats, wheat cereals, fruit, and fresh fruit juices will be available.

Loneliness is a major concern for students, so it is crucial that we create spaces for people to congregate with others, and food is such a great catalyst for human connection. The Hub is also a space for Warwick students to come together and experience that important community feeling ahead of their day.

Affordable Food Tracker

The Affordable Food Tracker is a scheme which aims to track and list all affordable or free food offerings on Warwick campus. By displaying this information in a single location, we can save students’ time, money and strongly encourage them to utilise the range of amazing schemes they can access.

We will maximise the reach of this scheme by distributing digital and physical assets to every corner of the campus.

Community Fridge

Coming Soon

The Community Fridge is a joint scheme, in collaboration with Sustainability Committee, that sits within the Food For Thought campaign.

The fridge is in The Green Room in Warwick SU North and is open to every single student. It will be stocked with a small amount of food items that students can freely take with no charge. The fridge can also be used to store food throughout the day, encouraging students to bring their own cooking to campus.

This scheme adds a further location to the variety of similar provisions on campus, such as the Chemistry Community Fridge, SU Advice Centre Food Bank and Warwick Medical School Kindness Pantry.

Grab And Go

Coming Soon

The Grab And Go scheme is a unique approach to promoting the whole Food For Thought campaign.

Our mobile Grab And Go cart allows us to take our initiative mobile and meet students where they are around campus. We will deliver food packages around campus as well as signpost to other Food For Thought schemes and SU campaigns more widely. This method allows us to deliver the provision in multiple locations as well as promote the other work we are doing to help our Warwick community.

This scheme has no regular schedule and can be utilised in a versatile manner. This allows us to have a presence at busy events, respond to ongoing trends and ultimately be imaginative with how we help students.
